Panic at Guadalajara Airport Amid Unconfirmed Reports of Cartel Leader’s Death

Scenes of panic were reported at Guadalajara International Airport after people were seen running for cover amid claims of armed men inside the terminal.
The unrest followed unconfirmed reports circulating online that Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as “El Mencho,” alleged leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), had been killed during a security operation.
Authorities have yet to officially confirm the reported death. However, amid fears of possible cartel retaliation, residents in parts of the area were urged to remain indoors as a precaution.
Security forces were reportedly deployed around key locations, including the airport, as officials worked to stabilise the situation. The incident has heightened tensions in Jalisco, where cartel-related violence has historically triggered rapid security responses.
