Chairman of the Senate Committee on Special Duties, Senator Kaka Shehu, has expressed strong opposition to the proposed ₦127 million budget allocation for an SUV for the Presidential Villa, describing it as inadequate and unacceptable.

Speaking during deliberations, Senator Shehu acknowledged the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, noting that the administration has demonstrated fairness by subjecting the Presidential Villa to the same scrutiny applied to other ministries and government agencies.

However, he maintained that the amount allocated for the SUV does not reflect the security and diplomatic standards expected of Nigeria’s seat of power.

“The Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu is alive. We are happy that even the Villa is being treated equally with other ministers. However, I will join my colleague in rejecting ₦127 million for an SUV in the Villa. It cannot even buy a bulletproof ‘tokunbo’. We must project the image of Nigeria positively in the committee of nations,” Shehu said.
