Rotimi Amaechi Speaks Out During Abuja Protest Over Senate’s Rejection Of Electronic Election Transmission

Former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, addressed demonstrators in Abuja during protests against the Senate’s rejection of the mandatory electronic transmission of election results. In his speech, Amaechi called for greater public participation in protests, emphasizing the importance of citizens standing up for electoral reforms.

He also highlighted the involvement of his own family, noting that his first son, a medical doctor, joined the demonstration to assist anyone who might be injured. “There were those who said we politicians wouldn’t protest and that our children are overseas. This is my first son. His job is to treat the injured ones. If they want him to protest, we are here,” Amaechi said.

Amaechi urged Nigerians to mobilize more actively, stressing that meaningful change requires widespread engagement. The protest is part of ongoing public debates on election transparency and the role of technology in ensuring credible election results.
