Afrobeat musician and activist Seun Kuti has delivered a scathing critique of Nigeria’s economic realities, arguing that the country’s wage structure has become completely disconnected from the cost of living particularly housing.
“Nigerian workers, you need a revolution. How can they be paying you ₦200,000 a month, yet they charge over ₦500,000, ₦600,000 a month for rent?”
His statement struck a chord with many Nigerians online and on the streets, as rising inflation, fuel costs, and housing shortages continue to squeeze middle- and low-income earners across the country.
