Television journalist and NBC “Today” show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie has made a heartfelt public plea as her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing amid an ongoing investigation in Arizona.
According to law enforcement, Nancy who was last seen on Saturday evening, January 31, 2026, at her home in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson was reported missing by family members the next day after she failed to attend church and could not be found. Authorities say she has limited mobility, relies on daily medication, and did not leave her home on her own, sparking grave concern for her safety.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has confirmed that the situation is being investigated as a possible abduction, with the missing person’s case now treated as a crime scene. Investigators believe someone may have entered Nancy’s home and removed her against her will, and they have urged the public to review any nearby surveillance footage that could assist the search.
Amid the frightening ordeal, Savannah Guthrie took to social media to appeal for prayers and public support, describing her mother as “a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant.” She asked followers to “raise your prayers with ours” and help bring her beloved mother home safely.
Law enforcement officials have emphasized the urgency of the situation due to Nancy’s medical needs. Sheriff Nanos warned that if she has been taken and is without her medication which is vital for her survival it could quickly become life-threatening.
The search continues with the involvement of sheriff’s deputies, homicide detectives, and other agencies. Savannah Guthrie was absent from the “Today” show as the family remained focused on finding her mother and thanked the public for their support and prayers.
