Boko Haram IEDs Kill Nine Nigerian Soldiers, Injure Several In Borno

At least nine Nigerian soldiers have been confirmed dead and several others injured after they triggered improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Boko Haram insurgents while travelling through Borno State. The deadly incident occurred on Saturday near Gubio, according to a top military source who spoke exclusively to SaharaReporters.
The soldiers were returning from Maiduguri town when their convoy encountered the deadly devices. Military personnel had reportedly stopped at a camp along the road before continuing their journey, but the explosives detonated during the travel, leading to the significant casualties.
Commanders have confirmed that the devices were planted by Boko Haram terrorists, marking another devastating attack in the long-running insurgency that has plagued northeastern Nigeria for years.
The explosion has reignited concerns over the safety of military and civilian movement along key routes in Borno, where insurgent groups continue to use IEDs to inflict casualties on security forces and destabilise communities.
Officials are continuing investigations into the attack, and the military has been urged to review operational protocols in high-risk areas to prevent further loss of life. As the situation develops, Nigerians are once again reminded of the ongoing security challenges in parts of the northeast.
