FAROOQ OREAGBA: OJUDE OBA 2025 GENERATED OVER ₦2 BILLION, $10 MILLION CIRCULATED IN IJEBU

Business executive and cultural icon Farooq Oreagba has revealed that Ojude Oba 2025 was the biggest and most financially impactful edition of the historic festival to date.

Speaking in a recent interview, Oreagba disclosed that despite receiving an Airtel endorsement following the 2024 celebration, this year’s event attracted an even larger wave of brand interest — so much so that he had to redirect several offers to other families involved in the cultural pageantry.

“A lot of endorsements came towards me that I had to turn down and channel them to other families,” he said, highlighting the increasing commercial value attached to the festival.

According to Oreagba, over ₦2 billion was generated from Ojude Oba 2025 alone. In a related report, CNN estimated that more than $10 million circulated within Ijebu during the festivities — a testament to the festival’s growing influence on local commerce, tourism, and cultural diplomacy.

Ojude Oba, celebrated annually in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, showcases Yoruba heritage through fashion, music, equestrian displays, and royal homage to the Awujale of Ijebuland. The 2025 edition not only broke financial records but also further cemented its reputation as one of Nigeria’s most iconic cultural events.
