ANAMBRA COMMISSIONER SEEKS PUBLIC HELP AS 18-YEAR-OLD IMPREGNATES 10 GIRLS

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare in Anambra State, Ify Obinabo, has raised concern over a disturbing case involving an 18-year-old boy who has reportedly impregnated at least 10 girls in the state.
Obinabo made the disclosure during a live Facebook broadcast, describing the situation as “beyond her capacity” and appealing to the public for guidance on how to address the issue.
According to her, the teenage boy was initially sent to serve as an apprentice under a businessman. Within just three months, he allegedly impregnated both his boss’ daughter and the business’ salesgirl. He was subsequently sent back to his hometown.
However, the situation worsened after his return. In the span of two months, the boy reportedly impregnated eight additional girls in his village, bringing the total to ten.
Obinabo narrated the experience of the boy’s mother, who, out of frustration, brought the case to her office. “She said anytime she sees a girl walking toward their house, her heart skips. She is overwhelmed and is seeking help,” the Commissioner said.
“I asked the boy how he gets these girls to agree to sex, and he simply said he tells them he loves them and plans to marry them once he becomes successful,” she added.
Expressing deep concern, Obinabo questioned whether the issue might have spiritual undertones and reiterated the need for collective input. “Is this a spiritual problem? What kind of solution can we offer this boy and the girls involved? The number is alarming, and his age is still very young,” she said.
She called on psychologists, spiritual leaders, and child welfare advocates to weigh in on the matter, describing it as a troubling reflection of deeper societal issue.
