VETERAN ACTOR OLAIYA IGWE REGRETS DISAPPOINTING TOPE ALABI ON HER WEDDING DAY

Veteran Yoruba actor, Olaiya Igwe, has expressed deep regret over disappointing gospel singer Tope Alabi and her husband, Soji Alabi, on their wedding day. In a recent interview with Baba Ibe TV, Olaiya revealed that one of his biggest regrets was failing to fulfill a promise he made to the couple.

According to him, he had assured Tope Alabi that she could use his newly purchased Mercedes-Benz V-Boot for her wedding. However, due to fear and security concerns, he backed out at the last minute. Olaiya recounted that he had previously experienced a traumatic robbery incident in Ibadan, where his car was stolen and later recovered. The ordeal left him paranoid, leading him to withhold the vehicle from the gospel singer.

Reflecting on the incident, he admitted that his decision still haunts him, especially considering how circumstances have since changed. While Tope Alabi now owns multiple luxury cars, he finds himself struggling to afford one.

“What hurts me the most and still does is what I did to my younger sister, Tope Alabi,” he confessed. “She informed me about her wedding, and I had just bought a ‘V-Boot’ after shooting Ololade Mr Money. Before I even got the plate number, I had inscribed Ololade Mr Money 1 on the car. Unfortunately, during a trip to Ibadan, armed robbers stole the vehicle. Thankfully, it was recovered the next day after news of the theft spread on radio stations and other platforms.

“When I returned to Abeokuta, Tope Alabi visited me and asked, ‘Big brother, please, we would love to use your car for our wedding.’ I agreed without hesitation. However, after she left, fear crept in—what if armed robbers took the car from them? I panicked and stopped picking up her calls a day before the wedding. I never gave her the car.

“I disappointed Tope Alabi. But today, she owns countless luxury cars, some of which I cannot afford. The pain of offending her still lingers. I once sought her forgiveness during a professional meeting in Ogun State, but my greatest regret remains disappointing her.”

This revelation comes after another Nollywood actor, Yemi My Lover, also shared details about his strained relationship with Tope Alabi last year. He recalled how her mother had entrusted her to him, yet over time, their bond weakened.
