HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES APPROVES PRESIDENT TINUBU’S REQUEST FOR STATE OF EMERGENCY IN RIVERS STATE

The House of Representatives has approved President Bola Tinubu’s request to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State amid the ongoing political crisis.
The approval was granted during Thursday’s plenary session, presided over by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, with minor amendments made to the original proposal.
As part of the resolution, the National Assembly will assume legislative duties for Rivers State throughout the duration of the emergency rule. Additionally, the House agreed that if the crisis is resolved within six months, the president should lift the state of emergency.
