LAWMAKERS DENY FIRST LADY’S INVOLVEMENT IN ASSEMBLY CRISIS
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have vehemently refuted allegations linking First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to the ongoing crisis within the legislative body, dismissing the claims as “false and baseless.”
In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, the lawmakers distanced themselves from an online report that suggested the First Lady’s involvement in the Assembly’s internal disputes. The statement was signed by Stephen Ogundipe, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security.
Ogundipe categorically denied the allegations, describing them as a complete fabrication with no factual basis.
“All members of the Assembly hold the First Lady in the highest regard. As a distinguished former First Lady of Lagos State and now the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has made significant contributions to governance and national development,” the statement read.
“It is therefore inconceivable that any member of the Assembly would accuse her of involvement in legislative matters or seek to tarnish her reputation. We firmly state that the First Lady has no role in any internal disagreements within the House. Any attempt to link her to these issues is entirely unfounded.”
The statement comes amid heightened tensions within the Lagos State House of Assembly, though the specifics of the internal crisis remain unclear.
