South African Police Arrest Suspect In Fatal Killing Of Nigerian E‑Hailing Driver

South African authorities have confirmed the arrest of a woman in connection with the violent killing of a 22‑year‑old Nigerian e‑hailing driver, Isaac Satlat, in Pretoria West. The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 11, while Satlat was on duty as a ride‑hail driver.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim accepted a ride request from two passengers — a man and a woman — who later hijacked his vehicle and fatally attacked him inside the car. The driver’s dashcam footage capturing the violent struggle circulated on social media, prompting widespread shock and condemnation.
Law enforcement later recovered Satlat’s vehicle and body in Atteridgeville, several kilometres from the original location. The female suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 16, 2026, facing charges including car hijacking and murder. Police say more arrests are imminent as investigations continue.
Authorities have urged members of the public not to share or circulate the graphic video of the attack, warning that it can retraumatise families and hinder the ongoing investigation.
