Comptroller Aliyu Visits Family Of Slain Customs Officer, Vows Justice

The Comptroller of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Gambo Aliyu, has paid a condolence visit to the family of Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC I) Mustapha Akiyode, who was killed in the line of duty.
According to an official press release signed by the Unit’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Hussaini Abdullahi, Comptroller Aliyu led a delegation of officers to the late officer’s residence in Ita Oshe, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on February 4, 2026.
During the visit, he conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Comptroller-General of Customs and the entire NCS family to the widow, children, and relatives of the deceased. He reassured them of the Service’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel, both in active service and beyond.
Comptroller Aliyu further pledged that justice would be pursued diligently. He stated that a thorough investigation is ongoing, with all available resources mobilized to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for the tragic incident.
ASC I Mustapha Akiyode was reportedly shot and killed in the early hours of Tuesday, February 3, 2026, during an ambush by unknown gunmen along the Ilara–Ijoun axis in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State while on official duty.
The Nigeria Customs Service has reaffirmed its resolve to ensure that the perpetrators face the full weight of the law.
