As Nigerians prepare for Christmas celebrations, the Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu Adelabu, has assured citizens that recent widespread power outages are temporary and that supply will be restored within the next 24 to 48 hours.

The announcement comes amid concerns over disruptions to electricity supply across several parts of the country in the days leading up to the festive period. Residents and businesses reported extended blackouts, raising questions about the stability of the national grid at a time when many households depend on consistent power for cooking, lighting, and seasonal activities.

In his statement, Minister Adelabu acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the outages and thanked Nigerians for their patience. He emphasized that the Federal Government and power sector stakeholders are actively addressing the technical challenges affecting generation and distribution.

According to Adelabu, the interruptions were linked to maintenance work, grid constraints, and the need to ensure long-term stability of electricity supply. He assured that the swift actions taken by the relevant authorities are expected to restore normal power within a short period, allowing families and communities to enjoy reliable electricity over Christmas and the holiday season.

The minister also urged Nigerians to remain calm and cooperative, noting that improving the power sector remains a priority for the administration. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing capacity, reducing load shedding, and ensuring that electricity supply meets the country’s growing needs.

As the festive season unfolds, Nigerians across the country will be watching closely to see how quickly electricity services bounce back, hopeful that the promised 24- to 48-hour restoration window is met.
