Tense Exchange Between Obasanjo And Fayose After Birthday Celebration

A heated political confrontation has emerged between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, following a dramatic encounter at Fayose’s recent birthday celebration. Both men exchanged strongly worded messages, with their statements now circulating widely in the media.

The controversy began after Fayose sent an explosive “thank you” message to Obasanjo, accusing him of making “very irresponsible comments” at the birthday event. In the message released to journalists by Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Fayose did not mince words, calling Obasanjo “mad,” accusing him of “losing sanity,” and suggesting he belongs “in the zoo.”

The former governor also claimed that Obasanjo publicly admitted to receiving money from him in the past, demanding that it be returned. Fayose added that he would “set the records straight” at the appropriate time.

Obasanjo responded in a brief but pointed message, thanking Fayose for the text while describing it as a reflection of “who and what” the former governor is, “unchanged and unchangeable.”

He also clarified that the money Fayose referred to had already been returned through the same individual who delivered it, and that the bag remained unopened.

The exchange has sparked nationwide reactions, with many Nigerians weighing in on the increasingly personal tone of political disagreements among elder statesmen. While Obasanjo and Fayose have had a turbulent political relationship in the past, this latest confrontation marks one of their most intense public clashes in recent years.

As the situation continues to unfold, observers await further details, especially as Fayose hinted he would soon reveal more information about the incident.
