DUNAMIS PASTOR PAUL ENENCHE REJECTS ₦30M DONATION FROM KEBBI GOVERNOR DURING CRUSADE
In a rare show of conviction and integrity, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has turned down a ₦30 million cash donation from the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, during a major healing crusade organized by the church in Birnin Kebbi.
The dramatic moment unfolded at the Kebbi Healing and Deliverance Crusade when the state’s Commissioner for Social Duties, Zayyanu Umar Aliero, who represented the governor, announced the donation to thunderous applause from the audience.
Aliero declared, “Our Governor, His Excellency Dr. Nasir Idris… has graciously approved the donation of ₦30 million to the organising committee… And as usual, His Excellency does not just approve donations — he brings it in cash.”
However, the applause was soon met with a surprising rebuttal. Taking the stage, Dr. Enenche respectfully but firmly rejected the monetary gift, asking instead that the funds be redirected to charitable or social initiatives in the state.
“If there is anything like an orphanage, if there is anything like that, at your discretion, please apply this amount of money to it. No. It will not be received,” the pastor told the crowd.
He later elaborated on the church’s position, stressing the importance of clear boundaries between government resources and spiritual ministry.
“We are one of those who believe that government money should be used for government projects and government things… and church money should be used for church things,” Enenche stated. “From land to the building to everything, no government money has touched the Glory Dome.”
His remarks sparked admiration among many worshippers, with some hailing it as a bold statement on integrity in ministry and governance.
Pastor Enenche also proposed that if the state wished to support faith-based causes, such contributions could be routed through credible religious agencies like the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board or the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
“This way, we retain our dignity as the body of Christ… and speak truth to power when necessary,” he noted.
Responding to the rejection, Commissioner Aliero commended the pastor’s stand.
“They don’t accept it because whatever he is doing, he is doing it for the sake of God. We really appreciate and we really thank him for what he is doing in our state,” Aliero said.
