TACHA SPARKS CONTROVERSY WITH BLUNT MET GALA FASHION TAKE
Reality TV star and influencer Tacha Akide is once again at the center of online buzz, this time for her unfiltered critique of Nigerian celebrities’ appearances at the 2025 Met Gala.
In a video that quickly went viral, Tacha didn’t hold back as she dissected the red carpet looks of Tems, Ayra Starr, and Burna Boy, who all made history as part of the first wave of Afrobeats stars to attend fashion’s most iconic night.
She kicked things off with Tems, stating bluntly that she didn’t understand her outfit. Ayra Starr’s look didn’t escape her lens either, as Tacha described it as “rushed” and lacking proper execution. As for Burna Boy, she hinted that the styling fell short of the moment.
But it was her comparison to Priscilla Ojo’s wedding guests that had social media users doing double takes:
“Let’s not even lie—even Priscilla’s wedding served us better looks. One thing Nigerians are known for is music and also fashion sense. I love my people, but someone had to say it.”
As expected, the backlash came in hot. While some applauded her for “saying what many were thinking,” others dragged her for being harsh and seemingly unaware of the Met Gala’s avant-garde fashion rules, using the moment to school her on the event’s theme-based expectations.
