PORTABLE ESCAPES JAIL TIME, TURNS TO TRADITIONAL PRAYERS

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again made headlines—this time for narrowly avoiding a three-month jail sentence after being convicted of assault.
The judgment, delivered by the Ifo Magistrate Court in Ogun State, found Portable guilty on two counts of assault related to a 2022 incident involving Osimosu Emmanuel. He was accused of leading an attack and conspiring with others to beat the victim. He also faced a separate theft charge involving musical equipment, but was acquitted on that count.
Instead of serving time behind bars, the court gave Portable the option of paying a fine totaling N30,000—N10,000 for the first assault count and N20,000 for the second. He was briefly remanded before returning to court for the final ruling.
Following the judgment, Portable posted a video on Instagram that quickly went viral. In the footage, the singer can be seen clutching what appears to be a traditional charm while chanting in Yoruba, seeking peace and wealth. “I no want wahala again. I just want money, make money dey come,” he sang.
The moment, captured in what many described as a spiritual or cultural display, has sparked mixed reactions online.
