KING SUNNY ADE’S DAUGHTER RAISES ALARM OVER ALLEGED EXPLOITATION, ISOLATION OF JUJU LEGEND
Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, daughter of Nigeria’s iconic juju maestro, King Sunny Ade (KSA), has raised an alarm over her father’s safety and well-being, accusing his manager and stepbrother, Dayo Adegeye, of deliberately cutting off access to the 78-year-old legend.
According to Damilola, the veteran musician has been unreachable for several weeks, with allegations that Dayo has been moving him between hotels, isolating him from his immediate family. The troubling revelations first gained public attention on Monday, April 28, 2025, after media personality @Akanbitheduke sounded the alarm on Instagram, highlighting desperate efforts by loved ones to locate the celebrated performer.
Sources close to the Adeniyi-Adegeye family reveal that KSA, who is reportedly grappling with personal grief following the recent death of one of his daughters, has been kept under suspicious circumstances. Disturbingly, there are claims that he is being forced to maintain a grueling performance schedule despite declining health.
“The last conversation Damilola had with him was alarming. He sounded distressed, and before he could say much, the phone was snatched away,” @Akanbitheduke reported. “Since then, all attempts to reach him have been futile.”
Taking to social media in a series of emotional posts, Damilola accused Dayo and his alleged collaborators of drugging her father with sleeping pills to control him, exploiting his legendary status for financial gain, and denying him access to his home and personal affairs.
“They are moving him from hotel to hotel, isolating him from his children and loved ones, and sedating him with sleeping pills! My father just lost a daughter and hasn’t even mourned properly, yet they keep dragging him from one performance to another. I want my father freed from their bondage,” Damilola lamented.
Leaked screenshots purportedly showing conversations between Damilola, concerned family members, and Dayo have also surfaced online, intensifying public concern about the welfare of the music icon.
However, in a swift reaction, a close aide to King Sunny Ade, speaking anonymously to Legit.ng, dismissed the allegations as “fake news,” insisting that KSA was spotted performing at a party in Lagos over the weekend.
“We are on top of the situation,” the aide said, although no substantial evidence was provided to ease the growing fears about the beloved musician’s condition.
