FOUR INJURED AS FIRE GUTS FERRY AT IPAKODO TERMINAL

Four passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries after a fire broke out on a ferry carrying 19 passengers at the Ipakodo Ferry Terminal in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Thursday morning.
According to a statement from the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) Public Affairs Unit, the incident occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. The cause of the fire remains unknown as investigations are underway.
“The Lagos State Waterways Authority confirms that a fire incident occurred at about 6:45 a.m. today at the Ipakodo Ferry Terminal in Ikorodu, involving the LAGFERRY vessel Igbega Eko, which was en route to Victoria Island with 19 passengers on board,” the statement read.
LASWA reassured the public that it is actively investigating the incident while maintaining strict safety measures across the waterways.
“Safety is our utmost priority, and we are committed to implementing any necessary recommendations to enhance fire prevention measures on Lagos waterways. All safety protocols remain in place, and ferry operations continue as scheduled,” the statement added.
