FG BEGINS PAYMENT OF N77,000 MONTHLY ALLOWANCE TO NYSC MEMBERS
The Federal Government has officially commenced the payment of the N77,000 monthly allowance to members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), months after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the increment.
The initial announcement in September 2024 had sparked relief and excitement among corps members, but the delay in implementation led to growing frustration. For nearly six months, serving corps members continued to receive the previous N33,000 stipend, introduced under former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2020.
Confirming the development , a serving corps member in Kwara State, identified as Adepoju, stated that the scheme had finally begun paying the new N77,000 allowance, describing it as “long overdue.” He noted that payments appeared to be disbursed in batches, as some corps members had received theirs while others were still awaiting theirs.

The news has since sparked reactions on social media, following an earlier assurance from the Minister of Youths that the federal government would clear the backlog of unpaid allowances.
A Twitter user, @ToluDaniel10, celebrated the payment, writing: “NYSC is finally paying 77k to corps members . If you have this girl’s DM, go say a big thank you. I bet the government wouldn’t have listened to you if not for her.”

Another user, @fimlex2, pointed out the contrast in reactions, tweeting: “NYSC don pay corpers 77k now, see as everywhere just quiet,” suggesting that the excitement was muted compared to when the payment was delayed.

With payments now rolling out, corps members eagerly await full implementation across all states.
