VETERAN ACTRESS DUPE JAIYESIMI OPENS UP ON CHILDLESSNESS, BETRAYAL, HOPE FOR MOTHERHOOD AT 60

Veteran Nollywood Yoruba actress Dupe Jaiyesimi has shared her emotional journey of childlessness, heartbreak, and unwavering hope of becoming a mother at 60. Speaking in a deeply personal interview on Biola Adebayo’s podcast, Jaiyesimi revealed the painful struggles she has endured over the years.

Reflecting on her past, she disclosed that she once conceived but tragically lost the pregnancy due to ectopic pregnancy, a condition where the embryo grows outside the womb. Recalling the devastating experience, she said, “I was once pregnant, but the scan showed that the baby was growing outside of the womb. After a few weeks, I lost the pregnancy.”

However, the pain of losing her child was compounded by betrayal in her marriage. Jaiyesimi recounted how her then-husband brought another woman who was already expecting his child into their home, leaving her no choice but to walk away. “After I lost the pregnancy, my husband brought another woman home, and she was already expecting his baby. I had no choice but to leave, and since then, I have remained single,” she revealed.

In her quest for motherhood, Jaiyesimi underwent two rounds of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), both of which, unfortunately, failed. She also considered adoption, but her late mother discouraged her from taking that path. “I attempted IVF twice, but it failed,” she admitted. “At a point, I thought of adopting, but my mother warned me not to bring any child I didn’t conceive into my life.”

Now at 60, she expressed sadness over not having children to share in her milestone birthday celebration. Yet, despite all she has faced, Jaiyesimi remains hopeful. With unwavering faith, she affirmed, “As long as there is life, there is hope. I still believe I can have my own child.”
