14-YEAR-OLD STUDENT DIES AS RAINSTORM DESTROYS SCHOOL IN OGUN
A 14-year-old Junior Secondary School 3 student, Timothy Amosun, has died after a rainstorm devastated Mayigi Community Comprehensive High School in Ilase, Ogun State.
The Ogun State government confirmed the tragic incident on Wednesday, March 19, in a statement by Mr. Lekan Adeniran, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Five other students, two teachers, a food vendor, and her seven-month-old child sustained injuries in the collapse caused by the storm in Ipokia Local Government Area.
Expressing his condolences, Governor Abiodun described the incident as a painful tragedy and a shocking loss to the affected families and the community.
“We pray that God grants the family of the deceased the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss,” he said.
The governor assured the public that the state government would cover the medical expenses of the injured and ordered that critically affected victims be transferred to specialist hospitals within and outside Ogun for advanced care.
During his visit to the victims, Mr. Moses Amosun, speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, expressed gratitude to the governor, his deputy, and the delegation, acknowledging their support during this difficult time.
