AKPABIO DENIES SEXUAL HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS BY SENATOR AKPOTI-UDUAGHAN

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has refuted allegations of sexual harassment leveled against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Addressing the Senate during Wednesday’s plenary session after a one-week recess, Akpabio dismissed the claims, emphasizing his long-standing respect for women.

“At no time did I ever harass any woman. I was raised by my late single mother and have always upheld respect for women. I was even awarded the most gender-friendly governor in Nigeria,” he stated.

Akpabio acknowledged receiving calls about the allegations since February 25 and being aware of social media discussions surrounding the matter. He urged Nigerians and the media to refrain from drawing conclusions, stressing the need to await the court’s decision.

Moments after his remarks, Akpoti-Uduaghan formally presented a petition under Senate Order 40, accusing Akpabio of sexual harassment and abuse of office.
