ADESUA ETOMI-WELLINGTON OPENS UP ABOUT SEVERE PREGNANCY CONDITION

Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington has revealed her struggle with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), a severe form of morning sickness, during her second pregnancy. The condition, which causes extreme nausea, vomiting, dehydration, and weight loss, significantly impacted her health and daily life. Adesua and her husband, Nigerian singer Bankole Wellington (known as Banky W), welcomed their second child in 2024.

The actress shared her experience in response to the tragic death of Jess Cronshaw, a pregnant UK woman who died by suicide after battling debilitating HG. Cronshaw’s case, reported by PEOPLE, highlights the often-overlooked severity of the condition, which left her bedridden and in despair.

On her Instagram story, Adesua expressed frustration at the lack of public awareness about HG, emphasizing, “It is not ordinary morning sickness. It is a serious condition that literally affects the quality of your life.” She urged greater understanding and support for those affected, while also thanking her husband, medical team, family, and friends for their unwavering care during her ordeal.

Adesua’s candid remarks underscore the urgent need for empathy and education around hyperemesis gravidarum, a condition that affects approximately 1-3% of pregnancies and can have profound physical and mental health consequences.
