“DO I LOOK LIKE YAHAYA BELLO?” – SOWORE DARES SECURITY OPERATIVES IN COURT

Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), clashed with officials from the Nigeria Police Force and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after they barred him from entering the premises of the Federal High Court.

Sowore, a prominent human rights activist, challenged the officers, asserting that he was not former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello, who is currently facing charges of alleged financial misappropriation brought by the EFCC. Despite attempts by the officers to block him, Sowore resisted and maintained his stance.

In a video shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Sowore accused Nigeria’s justice system of being compromised by uniformed security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), the police, and the civil defence. He claimed that these agencies had unlawfully taken control of the court premises to facilitate the appearance of Yahaya Bello, whom he referred to as a “thief.”

Sowore also criticized the authorities for their failure to arrest Bello when he was initially declared wanted, pointing out that the former governor was only detained after he voluntarily turned himself in at the EFCC office in Abuja.
