PORSHA WILLIAMS SPEAKS OUT FOLLOWING EX-HUSBAND’S DETENTION BY ICE
Porsha Williams has publicly addressed the recent detention of her estranged Nigerian husband, Simon Guobadia, by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The 60-year-old businessman, originally from Nigeria, is currently being held at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, with his status confirmed as “in ICE custody” by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 43, who is in the process of divorcing Guobadia, took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the situation, calling it “disheartening.”
“It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome. At this moment, my priority is moving forward with my family,” she wrote.
Guobadia, who moved to the U.S. from Nigeria in 1982, allegedly overstayed his visa and was declared deportable in 1985, according to Atlanta’s WSB-TV 2. His legal troubles escalated in 1987 when he was arrested for bank and credit card fraud.
Following two additional arrests, he was deported to Nigeria in 1992 but managed to return to the U.S. just a month later.
