Zenith Bank Opens First Branch in Osubi,
For the people of Osubi in Delta State’s Okpe Local Government Area, the arrival of a commercial bank is more than the opening of another banking outlet—it marks a significant step in expanding access to financial services within the community.
That milestone was achieved as Zenith Bank Plc officially commissioned a new branch in Osubi, becoming the first commercial bank to establish a presence in the community. The development reinforces the bank’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion by bringing world-class banking services closer to individuals, businesses and underserved communities across Nigeria.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, attracted senior government officials, traditional rulers, members of the business community, customers and other stakeholders, reflecting the importance of the investment to both the host community and Delta State’s broader economic landscape.

Among those in attendance was Sheriff Oborevwori, who described the new branch as a strong indication of growing investor confidence in the state’s economy.

According to the Governor, Zenith Bank’s decision to expand its presence in Delta State reflects the impact of the government’s investments in infrastructure, economic development and efforts to improve the ease of doing business.
Describing the development as “a clear vote of confidence in the economic potential of our state,” Governor Oborevwori said the expansion sends a powerful message that Delta State is open for business and well-positioned to attract even greater investment.
“When a leading financial institution such as Zenith Bank expands its presence in Delta State, it sends a powerful message that Delta State is open for business and ready for greater investment,” the Governor said.

He also drew attention to what makes the new branch particularly significant for the host community, noting that it is currently the only commercial bank operating in Okpe Local Government Area.
“The significance of this bank to our people cannot be overemphasised because of the impact it will have on the economy of this local government,” he said, highlighting the role the branch is expected to play in supporting economic activities within Osubi and neighbouring communities.
For Zenith Bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, the new branch reflects the bank’s enduring commitment to supporting communities while contributing to Delta State’s development.
She expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for his support and partnership, particularly for donating the land on which the branch was built. According to her, the gesture demonstrates the state’s commitment to encouraging private-sector investment and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, for his unwavering support and partnership, and for finding time to personally commission the branch today,” Dame Adaora said.

She added that the Governor’s donation of the land “is a testament to his administration’s commitment to fostering private-sector investment and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive,” noting that Zenith Bank is proud to contribute to the infrastructure and socio-economic progress taking place across the state through its latest investment in Osubi.

Describing the Osubi branch as Zenith Bank’s 19th branch in Delta State, Dame Adaora said the development represents another milestone in the bank’s longstanding relationship with the state. She reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting underserved communities by providing innovative banking solutions, expanding access to finance and empowering individuals, women entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises through capacity-building initiatives.
She added that the branch is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic activity in Osubi and surrounding communities, contributing to the broader development of Delta State and Nigeria.

The opening of the Osubi branch reflects Zenith Bank’s continued focus on expanding access to banking services while strengthening its presence in communities with significant growth potential. For Osubi, it marks the arrival of the community’s first commercial bank. For Zenith Bank, it represents another step in its commitment to promoting financial inclusion and supporting economic development across the country.
