As Nigeria’s political momentum builds toward the 2027 general elections, billionaire businessman Zenco has once again made headlines for his support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign. In a high-profile show of backing, Zenco, alongside prominent supporters, has donated a fleet of buses worth millions of naira to the City Boy Movement, a grassroots mobilization group aligned with Tinubu’s campaign efforts.

The donation, presented during a campaign rally, is part of broader efforts by pro-Tinubu supporters to energize youth and grassroots participation ahead of the 2027 polls. According to reports, high-net-worth individuals including Obi Cubana and Cubana Chief Priest were also present at the event, contributing to the fleet and rallying support for the President’s bid.

The buses are expected to be used by the City Boy Movement to support campaign logistics, mobilization, and outreach across different regions, particularly in urban centers where youth engagement could prove decisive. The movement has positioned itself as a major youth-driven force, advocating for continued leadership under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Critics of the campaign have argued that such high-value donations raise questions about the role of wealthy elites in influencing Nigerian politics, especially ahead of a general election. Others, including some opposition parties, have expressed concerns that early campaign activities are underway while security and economic issues remain unresolved in many parts of the country.

Supporters, however, insist that contributions like Zenco’s are expressions of confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and belief that grassroots groups like the City Boy Movement can help drive civic participation. Similar efforts have been seen across the political landscape, including donations of campaign vehicles by other politicians and groups to support candidate mobilization.

As the 2027 campaign season intensifies, such high-profile endorsements and material support underscore the intersection of private wealth and political influence in Nigeria’s evolving democratic process.
