Frederick Leonard Petitions Police Over Alleged Defamation By Stanley On Top

Nollywood actor and film producer Frederick Leonard has petitioned the Nigerian Police Force over alleged defamatory and libellous statements made against him by social media commentator Stanley Chibueze Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley On Top.

In a petition dated January 26, 2026, and addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Leonard, through his legal representatives, accused Ajemba of repeatedly publishing unverified and damaging allegations about him over a period spanning more than two years. The petition states that the claims were made without provocation and have adversely affected Leonard’s reputation, professional standing, and financial interests.

According to the petition, Leonard’s legal team acknowledged the constitutional right to freedom of expression as guaranteed under the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but stressed that this right does not extend to libel or slander. They argued that the alleged publications violate existing criminal and constitutional provisions that protect an individual’s right to dignity and reputation.

Leonard is asking the police to investigate the matter, invite Stanley On Top for questioning, and compel him to issue a written apology. The petition further demands a full retraction and the removal of all allegedly defamatory publications within seven days, warning that failure to comply would result in further legal action.

Confirming the development, Frederick Leonard shared the petition on his Instagram page, cautioning that anyone who makes public allegations must be prepared to substantiate them with credible evidence. He added that the matter would be pursued to its logical conclusion, stating that “the law will take its course.”
