CAC Cracks Down On PoS Operators, Registration Mandatory From January 1

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced a nationwide crackdown on Point of Sale (PoS) operators, giving all agents until January 1, 2026, to complete mandatory registration.
CAC says the initiative is designed to enhance transparency, improve compliance, and strengthen Nigeria’s financial ecosystem. Any operator who fails to register by the deadline risks penalties, including suspension of operations.
Officials explained that unregistered PoS operators can compromise consumer protection and threaten the integrity of financial transactions. The crackdown is also aimed at reducing fraud, improving traceability, and creating a safer environment for legitimate operators to operate.
The CAC is urging all PoS agents to start registration immediately to avoid last-minute complications and ensure smooth operations going into the new year.
