LAGOS STATE RECORDS 87% BUDGET PERFORMANCE, PROJECTS ₦3.366 TRILLION BUDGET FOR 2025

The Lagos State Government has announced an impressive 87% performance on its 2024 budget, highlighting strong fiscal discipline and strategic governance under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
This announcement was made during the 2025 Budget Consultative Forum, where the government revealed plans for a bold ₦3.366 trillion “Budget of Renewal” aimed at enhancing infrastructure, boosting social protection, and building a more climate-resilient economy.
According to the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, the budget framework aligns with Lagos’ 30-Year Development Plan (2022–2052) and Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), designed to deliver inclusive economic growth and structural transformation.
Mr. George noted that Lagos spent over ₦130 billion on food and transport subsidies in the last year, directly impacting more than 18.5 million Lagosians through various social programs. These efforts are part of the broader agenda to mitigate the effects of economic challenges on residents.
The forum, held at the Providence Hotel in Ikeja, brought together stakeholders from the private sector, civil society, religious institutions, people living with disabilities, and the youth. It served as a platform to gather grassroots feedback and promote transparency in governance.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of citizen input in shaping a people-centered budget. “We must work collaboratively to prioritize projects that meet the real needs of our communities,” he said.
As Lagos prepares for the 2025 fiscal year, the state government reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability, resilience, and economic inclusion—ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward a greater Lagos.
