BULGARIAN CLUB HOLDS MINUTE’S SILENCE FOR EX-PLAYER—WHO’S STILL ALIVE

A Bulgarian top-flight club has issued an apology after mistakenly holding a minute’s silence for a former player who is very much alive.
Ahead of their league match against Levski Sofia, Arda Kardzhali paid tribute to Petko Ganchev, with both teams gathering at the center circle to observe the moment of silence in his honor. However, before the final whistle, the club realized their mistake and swiftly took to Facebook to correct it.
“PFC Arda sincerely apologizes to former player Petko Ganchev and his loved ones after the club received incorrect information regarding his passing,” the statement read. “We wish him many more years of good health and the joy of witnessing Arda’s success.”
