DAUGHTER OF AILING RETIRED POLICE OFFICER WARNS SECURITY PERSONNEL AGAINST OPPRESSING CITIZENS

A woman claiming to be the daughter of a retired police officer has issued a stern warning to security personnel, urging them not to stand against the citizens in support of the government.

Her statement comes amid growing talks of a “30 Days Movement”—a campaign where Nigerian youths plan to use social media to voice their frustrations over the country’s economic hardship. The movement is believed to be a response to a corps member facing backlash for criticizing the government.

Reacting to the planned protests, the woman expressed concerns that police officers and soldiers may be deployed to suppress the movement. She urged them to remember that they, too, are suffering under the same economic conditions.

Sharing her father’s story, she revealed that he served in the police for 25 years before suffering a stroke and brain damage. Her family has since struggled to cover his medical bills, selling off land and properties to survive. She pointed out how many police widows and the children of officers are left neglected after their loved ones serve the country.

“Look at my dad’s kids—they’re all in rage, going astray because of a failed government. He worked for this country for years, but what does he have to show for it?”

She urged security officers to reject orders that do not favor the masses.
