Legendary singer Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia has stirred public controversy after sharing a video on his Instagram page confirming his separation from wife Annie Macaulay.

Speaking in Pidgin English, 2Baba addressed the issue, saying: “My people, nobody hack my account, na me talk wetin I wan talk, understand. I come in peace.”

This video follows a now-deleted post on his Instagram account, where he initially claimed his account had been hacked after an earlier post announced their divorce.

The since-deleted post read: “Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long… Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while now and have currently filed for divorce. I will grant a press release soon to say my story, not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense. Stay blessed my people. I love you all.”

2Baba and Annie’s relationship has been marked by highs and lows over the years. In 2021, Annie removed her husband’s surname from her Instagram bio, sparking speculation about marital troubles. She later reinstated it.

Their marriage faced further public scrutiny when Annie accused 2Baba of maintaining inappropriate ties with his first baby mama, Pero Adeniyi, who has three children with him. Annie alleged that 2Baba spent nights at Pero’s home under the guise of visiting their children and accused his family members of not accepting her. The situation escalated when 2Baba’s brother, Charles Idibia, publicly claimed that Annie was controlling and that the singer was “dying slowly” in the marriage.

The couple, who met when Annie was just 15, tied the knot in Dubai in 2013 and share two children. Despite challenges, 2Baba had often spoken fondly of Annie, crediting her unwavering support during his early struggles.
