POLICE RESCUE FORMER AIG HAKEEM ODUMOSU’S WIFE FROM KIDNAPPERS
In a swift and commendable operation, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully rescued Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, the wife of former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the rescue operation was carried out by Ogun State police operatives with the support of technical intelligence platforms from the Force Headquarters. The team engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel within the swampy creeks of Ikorodu on Wednesday, neutralizing two of the criminals, while others fled the scene.
Adejobi disclosed that Mrs. Odumosu was unharmed during the operation and has since been reunited with her family after undergoing a medical evaluation.
The abduction, which occurred on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the entrance of her residence in Arepo, Ogun State, prompted an immediate and targeted response from the Ogun State Police Command’s anti-kidnapping unit.
“In the early hours of January 23, 2025, police operatives raided a creek in Ikorodu where the kidnappers were reportedly planning another attack. A gun battle ensued, leading to the neutralization of two gunmen and the recovery of operational weapons, including four AK-47 rifles, three locally made single-barrel rifles, various ammunition, and N10 million previously paid as ransom,” the statement revealed.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the efforts of the operatives and Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, for their proactive measures in ensuring the safety of the victim and the community at large.
The Police Force reiterated its commitment to protecting citizens and eradicating violent crimes such as kidnapping, emphasizing the need for public cooperation in intelligence sharing to combat criminal activities.
This successful operation underscores the importance of synergy, intelligence, and swift response in addressing security challenges in the country.
