The trial of Bukola Saraki was on Monday, April 18, stood down for an hour due to the absence of Rotimi Jacobs, the counsel to the federal government, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in Abuja.

This was disclosed by Gabriel Esegine, a counsel of the prosecution who said Jacobs was away at the Court of Appeal, working on another case. He asked that the case be stood down for an hour until Jacobs returns.

Danladi Umar, the presiding judge,therefore stood down the case till 12pm.

However, this is the ninth time Bukola Saraki, the Senate President has appeared at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

The first time he appeared in court was September 22 2015.

The second time was October 21 2015 where he was accompanied by 81 senators while the third time was November5 2015.

The fourth time has appeared was Friday, March 11 which was adjourned again till Friday, March 18 making it the fifth time.

After which the case was adjourned till Thursday, March 24 which was the sixth time he appeared at the CCT. On his day, his application to stop his trial was dismissed.

Saraki has been charged with 13 counts of false declarations of assets while he was the governor of Kwara state.some pro-Saraki

Some pro-Saraki protesters were also seen around the court premises showing support for the Senate president.
